Prodigy Building Solutions was hired to replace the existing air‑cooled chiller at Beverly Gardens Elementary School, delivering a modern, efficient cooling solution designed to improve reliability, performance, and long‑term maintainability. The project included mechanical demolition, new chiller installation, piping modifications, insulation upgrades, electrical extensions, and additional heat trace to ensure proper operation in all weather conditions.
The work began with removal of the existing air‑cooled chiller and preparation of the mechanical area for installation of the new unit. Prodigy coordinated all rigging and placement activities to safely position the new chiller while maintaining clear access to surrounding equipment and utilities.
Mechanical piping was modified to accommodate the new chiller’s connection points and performance requirements. Schedule‑rated piping was adjusted, replaced, or reconfigured as needed to ensure proper flow, pressure, and compatibility with the existing hydronic system. All new chilled‑water piping received fiberglass insulation to improve energy efficiency, reduce condensation, and protect the system from temperature fluctuations.
Electrical extensions were provided to support the new chiller’s power and control requirements. Prodigy ensured proper routing, protection, and termination of all electrical components in accordance with code and manufacturer specifications. Additional heat trace was installed on exposed piping to prevent freezing during low‑temperature conditions and maintain reliable winter operation.
The upgraded chiller system provides Beverly Gardens Elementary with improved cooling capacity, reduced maintenance demands, and enhanced operational stability. By modernizing the equipment and updating the supporting infrastructure, the school benefits from a more efficient, dependable mechanical system built to perform for years to come.
