Middletown Tennis Courts Restoration 2024

Prodigy Building Solutions was hired to restore five existing tennis courts at Middletown High School, including full crack repair, new asphalt surfacing, color coating, striping, and fencing adjustments. The project was divided into a two‑court section and a three‑court section, each receiving a complete resurfacing and equipment upgrade to improve play quality, safety, and long‑term durability.

Two‑Court Section

Work began with removal and disposal of the 2x6 lumber at the base of the fencing, followed by selective fence removal to allow access to the courts. Fencing will be reinstalled once paving, painting, and striping are complete. The existing net system was removed and stored for reuse, and two center tie‑downs will be reinstalled after fencing work is finished.

Approximately 700 linear feet of cracks were routed and filled using the SAM.I crack repair system. Prodigy applied ODOT trackless tack at a rate of approximately 0.05 gallons per square yard, then furnished, installed, and compacted 2 inches of ODOT virgin asphalt surface course Type 1.

The courts will receive a five‑coat color system, with the playing surface finished in one color and the out‑of‑bounds area in a contrasting color. All lines will be white and applied according to standard tennis layout requirements.

Three‑Court Section

The three‑court section received similar preparation, including removal of 2x6 lumber at the fence base and temporary fence removal for access. Three existing net systems were removed, and three new complete net systems will be installed after fencing is reinstalled. Existing foundations will be reused.

Approximately 1,580 linear feet of cracks were routed and filled using the SAM.I system. Trackless tack was applied at the same ODOT‑specified rate, followed by installation and compaction of 2 inches of ODOT virgin asphalt surface course Type 1.

Once asphalt curing is complete, the courts will be sealed, color‑coated, and striped with a five‑coat system matching the design standards used on the two‑court section.

This restoration project provides Middletown High School with competition‑ready tennis courts featuring improved structural integrity, refreshed playing surfaces, and long‑lasting performance built to withstand heavy use and Ohio weather conditions.
