Fairfield Creekside Kitchen and Line Renovation

Prodigy delivered a comprehensive renovation of the Fairfield Creekside Middle School kitchen, serving area, and dry‑storage spaces to improve workflow, expand pass‑through capacity, modernize food‑service equipment, and enhance student movement through serving lines. The project included demolition, new construction, mechanical/electrical/plumbing upgrades, and installation of a full suite of commercial kitchen equipment.

New kitchen equipment included stainless‑steel tables, a hot water dispenser, a new convection oven, dish table with garbage disposal, dishwasher, hose reel, shelving, hand sinks, dry‑storage dunnage racks, pass‑through heated and refrigerated cabinets, merchandisers, serving line equipment (hot/cold wells, frost top, sneeze guards), milk coolers, and display cases.

Serving Area Renovation

To improve flow and create a more efficient serving environment, Prodigy:

  • Removed existing serving line equipment and handrails

  • Demolished the wall between the serving area and former storage room

  • Disconnected electrical systems tied to demolished walls

  • Removed flooring in the former storage room and installed new flooring

  • Removed ceiling system, lighting, ceiling fans, and stored all customer‑owned devices (cameras, Wi‑Fi, etc.)

  • Installed a new acoustical drop ceiling and LED lighting

  • Infilled openings between serving and storage areas

  • Reworked the door between dry storage and corridor for better access

  • Added new openings and doorways to improve student flow

  • Installed a third checkout kiosk

  • Painted CMU surfaces (excluding glazed block)

Dry Food Storage Improvements

The dry‑storage area was modernized to support better organization and food‑service operations:

  • Removal of ceiling system, lighting, and ceiling fans

  • Installation of new acoustical ceiling and LED lighting

  • Infill of opening between storage and cafeteria

  • Removal of roof duct

  • Installation of new storage systems and dunnage racks

Kitchen Renovation & Pass‑Through Expansion

To improve workflow and create new pass‑through access between the kitchen and serving area, Prodigy:

  • Removed existing tables and abandoned cooler/freezer

  • Demolished the cooler/freezer slab down to grade

  • Cut three new openings in the load‑bearing wall:

    • One new man door

    • Two openings for pass‑through heated and refrigerated cabinets

    • Existing man door remained

  • Removed ceiling system, lighting, and ceiling fans

  • Installed new acoustical ceiling and LED lighting

  • Removed, relocated, and installed kitchen equipment per drawings

  • Installed a new dish machine and ware‑washing area with dishwasher hood, exhaust fan, and booster heater

  • Retained existing kitchen hood and fire suppression system

  • Relocated washer and dryer to a new location

Electrical Upgrades

To support the new equipment and layout, Prodigy:

  • Removed the existing electrical panel (cabinet retained as pull box)

  • Installed a new 240V 3‑phase delta panel and 120/240V 1‑phase panel

  • Re‑fed existing circuits with new breakers, conduit, and conductors

  • Added a third shunt‑trip circuit tied to the hood fire suppression system

  • Reworked receptacles, fire alarm, and network devices

  • Provided power to the relocated washer/dryer

Plumbing Upgrades

Plumbing improvements included:

  • New plumbing for dish machine and ware‑wash area

  • Installation of a new grease interceptor

  • New domestic water and sanitary piping for relocated washer/dryer

  • Domestic water and sanitary connections for hand sinks, dish machine, and ware‑wash equipment

  • Reworking gas piping for relocated equipment

Mechanical Improvements

Mechanical work included:

  • Connecting the dishwasher hood to the rooftop exhaust fan

  • Installing a new dryer vent to the exterior

This renovation delivers a fully modernized kitchen and serving environment with improved workflow, expanded pass‑through capacity, upgraded equipment, and better student circulation—supporting faster service, safer operations, and long‑term durability at Fairfield Creekside Middle School.
